Week 6 Results and Team Records


Junior Division

Riverdale Pediatric Dentistry - 17 (5-1)

January’s Jazz - 6 (2-4)

 

Riverdale Pediatric Dentistry raised its record to 5-1 after defeating January’s Jazz by the score of 17-6. Avi Tepler had 6 points for Dentistry and teammate Zachary Goldberg picked up multiple assists in the win. For January’s Jazz, Jacob Morris had 2 points and Jacob Burstein had a strong game rebounding the ball.

 

Jasper’s Pizza - 16 (2-4)

Brown’s Jewelers - 6 (0-6)

 

After four straight losses, Jasper's Pizza finally got back in the win column by beating Brown's Jewelers for the second time this season, 16-6. Taj Sipp finished with 9 points for Jasper's and Diego Velez also had a strong effort in the victory. Jake Berger scored all 6 points for the Jewelers in a losing cause.

 

Ginzburg Drillers - 20 (6-0)

Buchbinder & Warren Realty - 14 (3-3)

 

The Ginzburg Drillers became the only team in any of the Stanley Lane league age groups to remain undefeated with a 20-14 victory over Buchbinder & Warren Realty. For the Drillers, Corey Walcott provided half the offense with 10 points and Alana Knapp contributed to the win by playing great defense. Elijah Fingal had 4 points and Noah Kazansky had 2 points in the loss for Realty.

 

 

Varsity Division

RNL Vending - 30 (4-2)

Councilman Koppell - 12 (5-1)

 

RNL Vending handed Councilman Koppell’s team its first loss of the season, winning in convincing fashion by a score of 30-12. Zack Duitz had 18 points for Vending to lead all scorers, while teammate Jacob Edelstein chipped in with 6 points. For Koppell, Jordan Hammerman and Will Havens supplied all of the offense, with 9 points and 3 points respectively.

 

Invitations Plus - 17 (5-1)

Riverdale YM-YWHA - 13 (0-6)

 

Invitations Plus moved in to a tie for first place by beating the Riverdale YM-YWHA, 17-13. Ethan Sidelsky scored 7 points for Invitations and Samantha Horowitz also contributed to the win with 2 points in the contest. For the Riverdale Y, Jeremy Lopez had 5 points and Josh Chait had 4 points in the loss.

 

Hertz Dental Starz - 27 (3-3)

YBY Computers - 22 (1-5)

 

The Hertz Dental Starz evened their record at 5-5 after defeating YBY Computers by a score of 27-22. Christian Batista had a team-high 12 points for the Dental Starz and Sean Patterson had 6 points in the victory. Despite being on the losing end, Caleb Marcus led all scorers with 13 points for Computers and teammate Ayelet Aranoff provided solid defense throughout the game.

 

 

Pro Division

Riverdale Kiwanis - 35 (5-1)

Taller Dental Magic - 19 (1-5)

 

Riverdale Kiwanis jumped up in the standings to claim a share of the division lead with a dominating 35-19 win over the Taller Dental Magic. William Feldman led the Kiwanis offense with 15 points and Raphael Kepecs chipped in with 2 points. For the Magic, Jordan Colodner recorded a team-high 12 points, while teammate Gianni Chiovetta added 1 point and have a strong overall effort in the loss.

 

Riverdale YM-YWHA - 33 (2-4)

Advanced Dental Care - 32 (1-5)

 

The Riverdale YM-YWHA narrowly edged past Advanced Dental Care with a 33-32 victory that moved them out of the basement and up two spots to fourth place in the division. The Riverdale Y was led by Dekorey Wright’s 14 points, while John Michael Aracena contributed 2 points to the winning total. For Dental Care, Addison Bent had a game-high 18 points and Tim Markbreiter added 2 points.

 

Skyview Wines & Spirits - 46 (4-2)

RiverKingSports.com - 42 (5-1)

 

The Skyview Wines & Spirits managed to do what no other team could through the first five weeks of the season -- beat RiverKingSports.com. After five straight wins, RiverKingSports.com fell to the Wines & Spirits by a score of 46-42, in a double-overtime thriller. For the Wines & Spirits, who are now just one game back of the division lead, Zeke Blauner recorded 22 points and Shira Saar added 4 points. Tzvi Cohen had 20 points in the loss for RiverKingSports.com and teammate Rafi Milo finished with 6 points.

 

 

Super Pro Division

Hudson Parkway Pharmacy - 36 (2-2)

Hertz Dental Stars - 35 (2-2)

 

After a week off for the Super Bowl, the super pro division returned to action and it was worth the wait, as Hudson Parkway Pharmacy downed the Hertz Dental Stars by just a single point, 36-35, in an exciting nail-biter. For Pharmacy, Dani Davis led all scorers with 18 points, including a pair of clutch three-pointers that won the game, while teammate Josh Deutsch followed closely behind with 15 points. Avi Chefitz and Eli Cohen each recorded 8 points to share the scoring lead for the Dental Stars in the loss.

 

Skyview Supersonics - 26 (2-3)

Skyview Wines & Spirits - 22 (2-2)

 

In yet another close game from a weekend that was filled with them, the Skyview Supersonics knocked off the Skyview Wines & Spirits by a slim margin of 26-22. With this result, all five teams in the ultra-competitive super pro division are unbelievably tied with two wins. Conor O’Brien had 10 points and Matthew Steinsaltz added 4 points for the Supersonics. In a solid losing effort, Ethan Metzger led all scorers with 15 points and teammate Ian Hollenberg recorded 4 points for the Wines & Spirits.
