May 12, 2011 -- After opening the season with 10 straight victories, the Riverdale Country School baseball team had cooled off a bit recently, losing three of the past six games -- including two in a row -- heading in to Wednesday’s meeting with Fieldston.

However, a matchup with their local rivals must have been exactly what was needed to get back on track, as the Falcons did just about everything right in a 5-2 win over the Eagles and completed a sweep of the 2011 head-to-head series between these two schools.

Both teams entered the crucial contest with identical league records, but Riverdale would leave with sole possession of second place in the Ivy standings... (Read More)

April 25, 2011 -- If the Poly Prep softball team is finally to be knocked off its perch after a five-year stay atop the Ivy League, the likely candidates to steal the title were assumed to be Horace Mann followed closely by Fieldston. April 18, 2011 -- Through the first two sports seasons of the 2010-11 school year, the battle for neighborhood bragging rights between the Riverdale and Fieldston boys’ varsity teams has been a mostly one-sided affair.

With five head-to-head meetings between the schools already in the books -- including football, soccer and basketball -- Fieldston was still undefeated and boasted four wins along with a draw in soccer. It appeared that this dominance by the Eagles was going to continue last Thursday, when Fieldston held a 3-1 lead over Riverdale after five innings, in the first of two baseball games between the rivals this season. RIVERDALE GIRLS ARE NEW YORK STATE LACROSSE CHAMPIONS:

Lady Falcons avenge only loss of season in dramatic title game battle

May 27, 2011 -- The final seconds ticked off the scoreboard clock at Manhattanville College on Wednesday evening -- five, four, three, two, one -- as the members of the Riverdale Country School girls’ lacrosse team tried to restrain their excitement for just a few more moments on the sideline.

When the countdown reached zero, the Lady Falcons stormed the field and were met halfway from the other direction by a big group of student supporters for a massive dogpile. After a few celebratory fist pumps, head coach Carol Pouliot stood nearby with her face in her hands as if to soak in the experience, before being serenaded by chants of “Coach P, Coach P.” Dozens of parents and school staff cheered on the girls while gradually approaching the ever-growing midfield gathering from the spectator area. June 22, 2011 -- When tennis guru Jeff Nerenberg first became head coach of the Riverdale Country School boys’ team back in 2008, he took an already-strong program and immediately brought it to an even higher level. In fact, Nerenberg saw his Falcons lose just five times during his first three seasons at the helm combined -- peaking with a near-perfect... (Read More)
