Week 7 Results and Team Records


Junior Division

Ginzburg Drillers - 20 (7-0)

Riverdale Pediatric Dentistry - 19 (5-2)

 

In a thrilling battle between the top two teams in the division, it was the Ginzburg Drillers that remained undefeated and tightened their grip on first place by narrowly edging past Riverdale Pediatric Dentistry, 20-19. Zachary Klestzick led the Drillers with 7 points and Corey Walcott had 6 points. For Dentistry, Avi Tepler led all scorers with 8 points in the losing cause, while teammate David Duitz contributed 4 points.

 

January’s Jazz - 11 (3-4)

Brown’s Jewelers - 8 (0-7)

 

January’s Jazz picked up its third victory of the season by defeating Brown’s Jewelers, 11-8. Adin Fischer led the Jazz with 4 points and Joseph Meyers contributed to the win with a strong defensive performance. For the Jewelers, Jordan Storfer scored 4 points, Benjamin Jacobson added 2 points, and Jakob Berger gave his team a strong overall effort in the loss.

 

Buchbinder & Warren Realty - 15 (4-3)

Jasper’s Pizza - 12 (2-5)

 

Buchbinder & Warren Realty improved its record to 4-3, with a hard-fought 15-12 victory over Jasper’s Pizza. Jacob Abehsera had 8 points for Realty, while Henry Mann recorded 4 points and more importantly, the game-winning shot. Taj Sipp and Michael Gallagher provided all of the scoring for Jasper’s Pizza, with 8 points and 4 points respectively, while Diego Velez worked hard and demonstrated great sportsmanship throughout the game.

 

 

Varsity Division

Riverdale YM-YWHA - 33 (1-6)

YBY Computers - 18 (1-6)

 

The Riverdale YM-YWHA broke its six-game losing streak and finally got to enjoy its first victory of the season, as they convincingly beat YBY Computers by a score of 33-18. Jeremy Lopez led all scorers in the game with 14 points for the Riverdale Y, while Josh Lehman forced an amazing 5 steals with his strong defense in the win. For Computers, Moshe Wolff had 12 points and Caleb Marcus chipped in with 4 points.

 

Councilman Koppell - 40 (7-0)

Hertz Dental Starz - 29 (3-4)

 

Councilman Koppell remained undefeated with a dominating 40-29 victory over the Hertz Dental Starz. Koppell’s Akiva Hain was responsible for half of the scoring in the win, finishing with a game-high 20 points, while teammate Will Havens added 2 points. Christian Batista led the Dental Starz with 18 points and Taylor Jimenez also had a strong effort in the loss.

 

*Correction: Please note that our Week 6 results listed RNL Vending as having defeated Councilman Koppell’s team, but this was in fact just a scrimmage game due to Vending not having enough players. As a result, Koppell was officially considered the winner of the contest by forfeit.

 

Invitations Plus - 23 (6-1)

RNL Vending - 17 (3-4)

 

Invitations Plus picked up its fifth consecutive win by knocking off RNL Vending, 23-17. ZJ Saks had a solid game for Invitations and scored 6 points, while Josh Morris contributed 4 points in the win. Despite the loss, Vending got a superb showing from Zack Duitz, who had a game-high 13 points, while Sophia Reich played well defensively throughout the contest.

 

 

Pro Division

Riverdale Kiwanis - 43 (6-1)

Riverdale YM-YWHA - 18 (2-5)

 

Riverdale Kiwanis proved yet again that it continues to get better and better each week, as they crushed the Riverdale YM-YWHA by a score of 43-18. William Feldman led Kiwanis with 13 points and Jonathan Katzman contributed 8 points to the winning total. Despite the lopsided loss, Akiva Hain showed tremendous hustle and reached double-digits in scoring by finishing with 10 points for the Riverdale Y, while teammate Jacob Wasserman had 4 points.

 

RiverKingSports.com - 30 (6-1)

Taller Dental Magic - 27 (1-6)

 

After tasting defeat for the first time in its previous game, RiverKingSports.com got back in the win column by barely edging out the Taller Dental Magic, 30-27. Tzvi Cohen shined once again with a game-high 17 points and Noah Nordlicht added 2 points on the scoresheet for the victors. Joshua Lieman had 9 points for the Magic, Gianni Chiovetta contributed 7 points, and Natan Ben-Meir was the team’s sparkplug, but in the end they came up just short in their upset bid.

 

Advanced Dental Care - 44 (2-5)

Skyview Wines & Spirits - 38 (4-3)

 

Advanced Dental Care played its best basketball of the season and managed to defeat the Skyview Wines & Spirits by a score of 44-38. Elisha Rudman had 15 points to lead the Dental Care offense and Ethan Havens chipped in with 8 points. For the Wines & Spirits, Valerie Lavar had a monster game and recorded a double-double, with a whopping 21 rebounds to go along with 13 points, while Shira Saar continues to show much improvement on the court and finished with 6 points.

 

 

Super Pro Division

Skyview Supersonics - 44 (3-3)

Hudson Parkway Pharmacy - 27 (2-3)

 

The Skyview Supersonics raised their record to .500 with an impressive 44-27 victory over Hudson Parkway Pharmacy. The Supersonics were led by strong defensive play from Evan Silverman and 4 points from Matthew Steinsaltz, but the truth is that there was nobody more valuable in this win than Aidan O’Brien, who exploded on offense with a game-high 28 points. Dani Davis led the Pharmacy with 18 points, while Kevin Danishefsky contributed 4 points and Christina Babi added 2 points.

 

IDT Energy - 45 (3-1)

Skyview Wines & Spirits - 38 (2-3)

 

After a two-week hiatus thanks to the Super Bowl and a bye, IDT Energy finally got back on the court and beat the Skyview Wines & Spirits by a score of 45-38. Energy was led by Joseph Kanner’s 10 points as well as 8 points from Ben Klein. For the Wines & Spirits, Josh Vaughan had a strong day and finished with 19 points, while Ian Hollenberg had several key rebounds and scored 6 points in the loss.

 

*Note: The Hertz Dental Stars (2-2) had a bye and will return to action next Sunday for week eight of the super pro division schedule.
