Week 9 Results and Team Records

 

Junior Division

Jasper’s Pizza - 23 (3-6)

January’s Jazz - 19 (4-5)

 

Jasper's Pizza ended its two-game losing streak with a hard-fought 23-19 win over January's Jazz. Jonathan Amaral carried Jasper’s to this impressive victory by scoring a game-high 15 points and teammate Taj Sipp chipped in with 4 points. The Jazz were not able to build on the  momentum from last week’s huge win, but despite this letdown, Ari Smith and Jonah Minkove both played well, finishing with 7 points and 4 points respectively.

 

Ginzburg Drillers - 27 (8-1)

Brown’s Jewelers - 4  (0-9)

 

The Ginzburg Drillers bounced back from last week’s shocking upset loss by crushing Brown's Jewelers, 27-4. Darion Ahmadizadeh had 10 points and Zachary Kelstzick had 4 points for the Drillers, while Jakob Berger had two points and Kobi Holmgren had 2 rebounds for the Jewelers.

 

Riverdale Pediatric Dentistry - 18 (7-2)

Buchbinder & Warren Realty - 9 (5-4)

 

In a crucial battle for second place, it was Riverdale Pediatric Dentistry that doubled up on Buchbinder & Warren Realty by a score of 18-9. Kira Tepler led Dentistry with a game-high 8 points and teammate David Duitz followed closely behind with 6 points in the victory.

 

 

Varsity Division

 

RNL Vending - 25 (5-4)

Riverdale YM-YWHA - 13 (1-8)

 

RNL Vending picked up its second consecutive victory and raised its record back above the .500 mark by knocking off the Riverdale YM-YWHA, 25-13. For RNL Vending, Jacob Edelstein had 8 points and Caleb Siegel contributed 6 points. Josh Lehman and Fabio Preka each scored 3 points for the Riverdale Y in a losing cause.

 

Invitations Plus - 38 (8-1)

Hertz Dental Starz - 17 (3-6)

 

Make it seven wins in a row for Invitations Plus, as the division leaders defeated the Hertz Dental Starz by a count of 38-17. Ethan Sidelsky led all scorers with 16 points for Invitations and almost singlehandedly matched the entire point total of the whole Dental Starz squad, while also contributed to the victory with 4 points. Despite the lopsided loss, Christian Batista and Benjamin Basseches finished with 6 points apiece and both had solid overall efforts for the Dental Starz.

 

Councilman Koppell - 31 (9-0)

YBY Computers - 18 (1-8)

 

Councilman Koppell, the only undefeated team left in the whole Stanley Lane league, continued its run by rolling over YBY Computers, 31-18. Akiva Hain was his usual dominant self and finished with a game-high 20 points to outscore Computers all on his own. Adin Rothstein had 8 points and was the second-leading scorer for the victors. Caleb Marcus had a strong game for Computers, scoring 12 points in the loss, while teammate Olivia Weinstein added 4 points.

 

 

Pro Division

Skyview Wines & Spirits - 30 (6-3)

Taller Dental Magic - 10 (1-8)

 

The Skyview Wines & Spirits won back-to-back games after convincingly tripling up on the Taller Dental Magic by a score of 30-10. Valerie Lavar led the Wines & Spirits with 12 points and teammate Efriam Herstic recorded 6 points in the victory. Joshua Lieman accounted for 8 of the 10 points scored by the Magic in the loss.

 

Riverdale Kiwanis - 44 (7-2)

Advanced Dental Care - 43 (3-6)

 

Riverdale Kiwanis bounced back from a rare bad loss and held on to second place by narrowly edging past Advanced Dental Care, 44-43, in what was far and away the most exciting game of the weekend. William Feldman dropped 23 points to provide more than half the scoring for Kiwanis, while teammate Raphael Kepecs added 4 points. Elisha Rudman was sensational in a losing cause, grabbing 5 rebounds and scoring a whopping 30 points for Dental Care to lead all scorers in the game. Diego Figueroa Hepner contributed 4 points to Dental Care’s offensive total.

 

RiverKingSports.com - 29 (8-1)

Riverdale YM-YWHA - 16 (2-7)

 

RiverKingSports.com picked up its eighth win of the season by defeating the Riverdale YM-YWHA, 29-16. Ben May had 11 points for RiverKingSports.com and Rafi Milo chipped in with 4 points. For the Riverdale Y, Dekorey Wright had 6 points and Justin Ryan added 2 points.

 

 

Super Pro Division

IDT Energy - 37 (5-1)

Hudson Parkway Pharmacy - 30 (2-4)


IDT Energy tightened its grip on the top spot in the division by triumphing over Hudson Parkway Pharmacy, 37-30. Energy received 12 points from Daniel Jonas and 8 points from Ben Klein in the win, while Josh Deutsch had a game-high 17 points and Larry Currier added 9 points to lead the Pharmacy offense in a losing cause.


Hertz Dental Starz - 39 (4-2)

Skyview Supersonics - 36 (3-5)


The Hertz Dental Stars held on to second place in the standings race by pulling out a thrilling 39-36 victory over the Skyview Supersonics. Avi Chefitz led the Dental Starz with 19 points in the victory and teammate Yosef Kessler had 8 points in a solid supporting performance. The Supersonics came up just a bit short despite 18 points from Aidan O'Brien, who singlehandedly provided half the offense for his team in the loss, while Martin Liberman added 2 points to the scoresheet.

 

*Note: The Skyview Wines & Spirits (2-4) had a bye and will return to action next Sunday for week 10 of the super pro division schedule.
