Week 5 Results and Team Records


Junior Division

Ginzburg Drillers - 22 (5-0)

Brown’s Jewelers - 9 (0-5)

 

The Ginzburg Drillers are now a perfect five-for-five on the season after beating Brown’s Jewelers, 22-9, in a matchup between two teams at opposite ends of the standings. For the Drillers, Darion Ahmadizadeh led the way with 14 points and Nicholas Jimenez chipped in with 3 points. Ben Jacobson scored 6 of the 9 points for the Jewelers in the loss.

 

January’s Jazz - 26 (2-3)

Jasper’s Pizza - 14 (1-4)


The January’s Jazz picked up their second victory with a 26-14 decision over Jasper’s Pizza. Azi Kram and Jacob Burstein both recorded 8 points for the Jazz in this victory, while Jonathan Amaral of Jasper’s Pizza matched their efforts with 8 points of his own.


Riverdale Pediatric Dentistry - 18 (4-1)

Buchbinder & Warren Realty - 12 (3-2)


In a tightly-contested battle for second place in the division, it was Riverdale Pediatric Dentistry that remained just one game back of the top spot by defeating Buchbinder & Warren Realty, 18-12.  For Dentistry, Daniel Berger led the offense with 10 points, while David Duitz had a strong defensive game.

 

 

Varsity Division

Invitations Plus - 30 (4-1)

Hertz Dental Starz - 25 (2-3)

 

Invitations Plus improved its record to 4-1 with a 30-25 victory over the Hertz Dental Starz. Ethan Sidelsky and Nachi Spierer each scored 8 points for Invitations Plus in the win. For the Dental Starz, Christian Batista continued his strong play by scoring 20 points in the losing cause.


RNL Vending - 29 (3-2)

Riverdale YM-YWHA - 26 (0-5)

 

RNL Vending was victorious for the second straight week, narrowly defeating the Riverdale YM-YWHA by a score of 29-26. For RNL Vending, Caleb Marcus had 12 points to lead the offense, while teammate Zack Duitz followed right behind with 11 points. Fabio Perka had a game-high 16 points in a solid losing effort for the Riverdale Y.


Councilman Koppell - 36 (5-0)

YBY Computers - 22 (1-4)

 

Councilman Koppell’s team steamrolled through another opponent this week, as YBY Computers became the undefeated squad’s latest victim, 36-22. Akiva Hain scored 19 points to provide more than half of the offensive output for Koppell. For YBY Computers, Moshe Wolff reached double-digits with 10 points on the day and Sammy Klestzick chipped in with 2 points.

 

 

Pro Division

Skyview Wines & Spirits - 42 (3-2)

Taller Dental Magic - 21 (1-4)

 

The Skyview Wines & Spirits doubled up on the Taller Dental Magic, 42-21, for their third consecutive win and raised their record over .500 for the first time this season. Zeke Blauner finished with 20 points to lead the Wines & Spirits, while teammate Shira Saar contributed 8 points to the winning total. 


Riverdale Kiwanis - 50 (4-1)

Advanced Dental Care - 49 (1-4)

 

Riverdale Kiwanis just barely avoided a huge upset and held on to sole possession of second place by edging past Advanced Dental Care, 50-49, in an overtime thriller. The duo of William Feldman (28 points) and Sean Kessner (18 points) almost singlehandedly carried Kiwanis to the victory, as they combined for 46 of the team’s 50 points in the contest. Elisha Rudman finished with 19 points for Dental Care and Dan Sonnenblick had 2 big points during the overtime period, but it was not enough to avoid falling a single point short of the upset bid.


RiverKingSports.com - 37 (5-0)

Riverdale YM-YWHA - 26 (1-4)

 

The Riverdale YM-YWHA put up a good fight, but in the end they were no match for RiverKingSports.com, which increased its winning streak to five games with a 37-26 victory. Tzvi Cohen had yet another superb performance for RiverKingSports.com and led all scorers with 21 points, while teammate Ezra Wildes contributed 4 points in the win. For the Riverdale Y, Dekorey Wright had 9 points and Ravi Nash had 4 points.

 

 

Super Pro Division

All games in the Super Pro Division were postponed on Sunday in order to allow the athletes and their families a chance to watch the Super Bowl.
